Lieutenant Ron Hanavan

Lieutenant Ron Hanavan is a law enforcement professional with over 27 years of experience. He began his career in emergency services in 1992 as a part-time EMT and later became a Paramedic. In 1997, Ron joined the Summit County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) as a deputy sheriff, where he worked as a patrol officer and School Resource Officer (SRO).

Lieutenant Hanavan joined the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) in 2002, and currently holds the position of Training Lieutenant. As part of his job, he is responsible for overseeing the training and professional development of law enforcement officers in the department. He ensures that they are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills required to serve and protect the community effectively.

Lieutenant Hanavan has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to community and collaboration throughout his career. He has developed long-standing relationships within Douglas County to support law enforcement and the community. Lieutenant Hanavan serves on the board for the Fallen Officer Fund of Douglas County and the Douglas County Deputy Sheriff’s Association. Lieutenant Hanavan has worked his way up through the ranks, starting as a deputy and now holding the position of lieutenant. He is known for his passion and dedication to his work, as well as his commitment to his community. When not working, Lieutenant Hanavan enjoys spending time with his family. He is married to his wife, Ashley, and they have two children.
